Detailed information
Lake Issyk-Kul is the pearl of Tien Shan, the largest lake in Kyrgyzstan. This is the second largest tectonic lake in the world. The Issyk-Kul valley is replete with healing hot mineral springs and mud. Karakol is the regional center of the Issyk-Kul region, located in the eastern part 12 km from the lake. It was founded in 1869 as a military and administrative center on the caravan road to Kashgaria. In Karakol, visit the Przhevalsky Museum, the Russian Orthodox Church, the Muslim mosque in the Chinese style. You will have the chance to see a demonstration of the traditional eagle hunting with hares. The old sport of falconry is still preserved in Kyrgyzstan. Golden Eagles are used to hunt hares, foxes, gazelles and even wolves. The Burana Tower and some other historical buildings and ruins are what are left of the city of Balasagun, which was the capital of the Karakhanid State (X-XII centuries), with a total area of 30 square meters. km
